Sensei Wax, a former science teacher in the St. Vrain Valley School District and current licensed teacher for Colorado, retains his nerdiness by offering summer camps with a science twist. This year, we have several excellent camps; please read below to get more information on each. A 50% deposit is required for all camps to ensure your sport! CSI: Advanced (July 30 – August 3) – $169

In the advanced CSI camp, kids will work with law enforcement officers at crime labs learning the tools of the trade. Hands-on experience is what this camp is all about! Learn from professionals and have a ton of fun – who knows…maybe will even get your mugshot taken!

Returning for 2012:

Rocketry 2012 (July 9 – July13) – $149

In this extremely hands-on and team-oriented camp, kids learn the basics of rocketry (physics, parts, etc.) while building a rocket to complete a particular objective using a limited budget (similar to how the space program REALLY works). Camp fee includes materials for building amazing rockets, such as engines, tubes, parachutes, etc.

XMA 2012 (July 16 – 20) – $129

This physically challenging camp will push the limits of your skill and flexibility as we push you in the exciting world of Xtreme Martial Arts. Each camper will learn the XMA basics and get experience with tricking (combining martial arts and gymnastics). By the end of the camp, students will have the tools necessary for competition, or building even more serious tricking skills!

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (July 23 – 27) – $149

Learn about the tools that forensic investigators use to solve a crime! Hands-on experience with laboratory tests and guest speakers…our most popular camp ever! We will finish up the case from last year and begin a new one this year, making sure that all are prepped to solve it. More experiments, more fun! Join us for CSI: 2012!

Space is limited to the first 20 kids since this will be a night to remember! Cost is $30 for the 1st child and 50% for all additional family members. Feel free to invite friends as we will have tons of fun!

Come join Alpha Martial Arts and Boulder Martial Arts for their monthly “Fight Night”! Fight Night is all about learning and having fun – we do point and continuous sparring. If you are comfortable with it, takedowns and ground fighting (grappling) is also available.

Sparring is an integral part of the martial arts. The more experience you have with sparring, the better equipped you will be to defend yourself in the real world!

So please, join us for a fun evening and make some new friends and learn something new!

On December 17th from 6pm to 8pm, Alpha will be hosting a movie night for kids where you parental-type units can slip out and do last-minute Christmas shopping, or just have a couple hours away from your kids! We will be watching one of Sensei’s FAVORITE movies and snacking on popcorn. Cost is $3/child.

We will have a sign-up sheet and make it a pot-luck so we don’t end up with an excessive amount of sugary items.

Thanksgiving is a time of the year when we give thanks for all of the wonderful things in our lives as well as things that are a challenge for us because they are the things that define us. This year, in addition to giving thanks, we challenge you to start a new Thanksgiving tradition that will help improve your life. Here are some examples of ways you could take time out of your day to make a difference:

• Go on a hike with your family
• Have lunch with some friends
• Come in for open mat at Alpha and get some great practice in
• Play at the park with your kids
• Go for a run/bike/swim (or all 3 for you triathletes)

Located conveniently off of Main Street in Longmont (195 S. Main Street, Suite 13), Alpha Martial Arts has award-winning programs for kids, teens, and adults. Our instructors are certified instructors through the International Martial Arts Group and hold professional teaching licenses in Colorado. Sensei Wax (head instructor/owner, 3rd degree black belt) prides himself on teaching each class and providing individual attention. Come in and experience the difference!

Our youth martial arts classes fuse fun, exercise, and a great mixed martial arts curriculum centered around Taekwondo to improve coordination, fitness, and confidence. The practical self defense that kids learn can help them get away from an attacker or bully and make them feel like they can defend themselves in any situation.

The little ninjas class, aimed at kids ages 4-8, is a great martial arts class with a focus on discipline, character building, and self defense. Kids learn martial arts basics that will prepare them for the youth martial arts classes. Again, we teach mixed martial arts and include Taekwondo, Jiu-Jitsu, and Judo. Kids learn how to fall safely, practice sparring, and learn to use martial arts weapons safely!

Our adult martial arts program has classes two times each week, but adult students can also come to the regular rank classes throughout the week, giving them greater flexibility for their martial arts training! The adult martial arts program teaches practical self defense with a focus on control. We do sparring, board breaking, weapons training and mixed martial arts, again centered around a Taekwondo foundation.

Our demo/competition team has performed at numerous events including Rhythm on the River, Festival on Main, and the Boulder Creek Festival. In addition, they have been very successful on the Colorado competition circuit under the instruction of Sensei Wax. Come watch us at the next CKA tournament or local competition!
